The QCC has partnered with the Campaign for Better Hearing, and together we want to acknowledge May as Speech and Hearing Awareness Month.
We want to remind you to get your hearing tested or encourage a loved one to do so. Many of us take our ability to communicate for granted, but the ability to speak, hear and be heard is much more vital to our everyday lives than most of us realize.
For those who have difficulty communicating, everyday interactions can pose significant challenges, may prevent an individual from performing well in day to day activities, and can lead to social isolation.

47% of Canadians with hearing loss are 60 or older, with a majority of them receiving a late diagnosis.
Early hearing loss detection is key to effective hearing treatment. That is why the Campaign for Better Hearing’s goal is to provide a free hearing test to every Canadian 60 years of age and older.
